Room of the Tonic Hotel Marseille

The choice of designs in the Tonic Hotel Marseille was made to create a tale. The aim was to express the sea and its calanques (local name for creeks) so a delicate play of various tints from clear white to browns, in contrast with the deep blue of a magnificent sea. This whole project was to create a special atmosphere, liquid, very bright, typical of Mediterranean environment.

Bathroom of the Tonic Hotel

In the bathroom, the tiles have the colour and the aspect similar to the rocks of the local cliffs, in contrast with the ground; deep blue tiles which remind the sea and also the local “faiences” made in the fifties in southern France (Moustiers, etc…) The room is enlightened with the same harmony of colors; natural blues form the background to create a relaxing atmosphere; they enhance a rare blue (not the cold blue of ocean s ) which expresses transparency and the beauty of a sea – so often longed for.

In the corridors, the carpet – a special creation – enriches and gives life to spaces. Its design is an evocation of the fifties – a period of careless first holidays when the whole France travelled, in complete families, to discover the Med, sung by Charles Trenet, painted by Matisse and Picasso under the hot sunshine of southern France .
