Discover our Hotel

At the heart of the city of Marseilles, in the Vieux Port, Grand Tonic Hotel Marseilles welcomes you into a bright, open space of contemporary design.

With its 56 rooms, of which 16 have views over the brand new Vieux Port Esplanade, a bar, two naturally lit conference rooms, Restaurant LMB with its own terrace situated on the Esplanade, the Grand Tonic Hotel is the dream venue for all those wanting to visit the Phocaean City, be it at your leisure, or for professional purposes.

Contemporary décor and facilities anchor the Hotel firmly in the 21st century: flat screen TV, free WiFi, individual coded safe, mini-bar, air conditioning, hydromassage bathtub in every bathroom; simplicity and comfort are our priorities.

The choices of décor in the Grand Tonic Hotel Marseilles-Vieux-Port are inspired by the sea and by the Calanques; they play with monochrome tones, from white to brown, which contrast perfectly with the turquoise blue of the sea. Altogether, this creates a clear, fluid atmosphere, in harmony with the Mediterranean environment.

All the rooms display this same harmony of natural tones, which form the basis of a canvas depicting a relaxing atmosphere; highlights of that same blue, which, far from the cold blues of the ocean, recalls the transparent hues of water seen only in your dreams.

The bathroom tiles have the tone and feel of the rocky cliffs; in contrast, the floor tiles are of a stunning turquoise blue, reminiscent of the Southern French ceramics of the 1950s and 60s.

The specially designed carpets bring life and movement to the spaces within the hotel corridors. The hotel’s style is also reminiscent of the 1950s and 60s; a reflection of the insouciance of the very first working holidays, when every family in France would be reunited on the Mediterranean beaches, listening to the music of Charles Trenet; a reminder of the works of Matisse and Picasso, created under the Mediterranean sun.

In addition, there are 2 conference rooms available; intimate, naturally lit, and with a view over the Vieux Port – an ever-present background to our establishment. You also have access to all the equipment and facilities that you may need.

And last, but not least, Restaurant LMB Marseilles offers you the best local specialities within a designer setting. Moderate prices in a relaxing atmosphere, reminiscent of a beautiful, pebbled beach. And, at the first hint of the warm Mediterranean sun, you can step out onto the terrace on the Vieux Port Esplanade.

MARSEILLES-PROVENCE 2013 – EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE – MP2013
The city chosen to be the European Capital of Culture is not only chosen for how it is now, but also, and above all, for what it intends to do over the next twelve months, which must prove to be exceptional.
Marseilles-Provence 2013, European Capital of Culture, is a place where cultural, political and financial worlds converge. In Marseilles, and in Provence, where we are always ready to declare our differences, to air our disagreements and revel in our contradictions, the title of European Capital of Culture is the crown of a revolution that we want to share with the whole world. The year-long cultural project MP2013 has involved harnessing all of our great regional strengths to create one coherent picture from all the pieces of our cultural mosaic. No one can deny that this is no easy task: bringing together the Roman town of Arles, the medieval Salon-de-Provence, the industrial Martigues and Istres, the cultural Aix-en-Provence, the rural Aubagne and the Greek Marseilles was truly a gamble. However the miracle of Marseilles-Provence 2013 is that we can now offer this unique journey of discovery, through our past, our present, our hopes and our future projects.
